"Outlook.pst cannot be accessed - 0x80040116" error message when you start Outlook

Outlook error code 0x80040116, it the most common error that can be occur on the Microsoft office outlook. This error code is generally appears when you start Microsoft office outlook, or when you are try to open a personal folders (PST) files, this situation you may receive the following error message:

"Outlook.pst cannot be accessed - 0x80040116"

Or

"Errors have been detected in the file xxxx.pst. Quit all mail-enabled applications, and then use the Inbox Repair Tool."

Above error message also may occur when you try to load or access an oversized outlook PST file. This error generally occur if the index of the .pst file is damaged  or for  logical corruption of PST files it caused by a virus attack or human or software error when the files is opened, modified incorrectly and improperly shutdown the system before exiting the outlook application and other  most common reasons behind the outlook error code 0x80040116 is outlook files size limitation in earlier version of outlook, this error can happened when your pst files rendered unused and outlook will not synchronize properly.
